In September 2011, posts were installed near house 602 in Krausova Street, because there was parking on the sidewalk and, in addition, cars drove onto the sidewalk through the crossing, creating very dangerous situations. “However, part of the sidewalk in front of the house still functioned as an illegal car park,” says Jan Mikulecký, Letňany’s representative.
At the request of residents of nearby houses, additional poles were installed in December, which completely prevented parking in pedestrian-only places. “The posts will be gradually installed in other places where cars are parked illegally on the sidewalk or in the countryside,” says Jan Mikulecký, Letňany’s representative. There is a free space for cars in the housing estate, which is why the municipality is constantly trying to look for new parking options.
“For example, the Letňany lentils project will bring dozens of new parking spaces,” recalls Jan Mikulecký, Letňany’s representative. By suitable modification of traffic signs, it is possible to legalize parking spaces where cars could partially use the sidewalk. However, it must not be dangerous for pedestrians. Landowners can turn to the transport department at any time with a request to create legal parking spaces.
