The sidewalk in Jablunkovská Street was in a state of disrepair, so it was reconstructed last autumn. The original asphalt surface was severely damaged by the roots of several years of birch trees and had to be replaced.
Because the reconstruction required the removal of birches, street residents were asked if they agreed to remove them and replace them with other trees.
“I am definitely not in favor of felling mature trees, however, the situation in Jablunkovská Street required it,” said Jan Mikulecký, the councilor for the environment, adding to this drastic intervention, adding: “We addressed the inhabitants of the street who were directly affected by the reconstruction of the sidewalk. I would not like to interfere in their immediate surroundings without proper consultation. “
Most of the inhabitants of Jablunkovská Street were in favor of a full reconstruction of the sidewalk, Mikulecký refers to the survey. After the autumn replacement of the pavement surface, three new beeches were planted in the spring, when the time was right, which will provide a small shade of the gardens from the blocks of flats and provide the inhabitants of the family houses with a certain form of privacy. The trees have been professionally planted so that their roots do not disturb the pavement surface in the future.
